I’ll be teaching a ten week evening course (on Tuesday nights) on Creative writing at Fanshawe College in London starting May 8th. There’s still room if anyone is interested. Check the college’s website for spring term courses. I’m also conducting a one day 9a.m. – 4 p.m. workshop on June 22nd also at Fanshawe College. Room still available for students for that.

On Saturday, May 5th, our court is having a garage sale. Quinella Place, London, Ontario starting at 7:00 a.m. I am going to be showing and selling my quilts. Here is one of the quilts I will be selling.

I knew getting the house and cottage ready for sale would be a huge job, but I had no idea it would be this HUGE a job. But both went up for sale this week, both have already had viewings and I’m on my way out shortly as another viewing is due at 11:00 a.m. Just telling you this because I’ve been so absent from books, Facebook, blogs, etc.

Some favourite YA books I’ve been reading recently: Girlwood by Claire Dean, Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions, short stories edited by Melissa Marr and Kelley Armstrong and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. Check them out. And as I’m on favourite things: My favourite song right now – it changes constantly – is Ray Lamontagne’s “God Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise.”

A Valentine Story

Back when I was 16, my BFF went out with this guy, we’ll call him John, for a while and I went out a few times with his friend, Tom (real names changed to protect the guilty) but I wasn’t feeling it, so I said I didn’t want to go out with Tom anymore. Then my BFF broke up with John and Tom asked her out. Now that I think about it, that’s kinda creepy. Anyway, Tom invited her to a party where her ex-boyfriend was to be at so she said yes, and then she invited me to go on the date with her – which I did. She and I sat in the back seat of Tom’s car while he sat in the front by himself and drove to the party. And we repeated the same procedure on the way home. Sorta mean of us, I know, but we were sixteen. Tom wasn’t too pleased with his “date(s).”
